Our Musicians

Our Musicians

Music is our passion and our profession.

The musicians who play for the Shaw Strings were trained and/or have degrees from the Philadelphia area's most prestigious schools, universities and conservatories. We are proud to have them all as part of our musical family.

Though our musician list changes from time to time, we usually have available the following numbers of musicians for each instrument so that we may schedule several quartets or other groupings to meet the needs of different events on any given day:

Bass – 3 musicians
Cello – 12 musicians
Viola – 12 musicians
Violin – 20 musicians
Flute – 8 musicians
Harp – 10 musicians
Piano – 3 musicians
Trumpet – 6 musicians

Policies

Policies

We are able to play without taking breaks at structured times or working with strict union rules as we are not union members. Our family of musicians live throughout the Tri-State area. This enables us to serve a wide geographic area, often without travel charges. Every musician who plays with Shaw Strings rehearses regularly with the others and can easily substitute for one another in case of emergency. Many times we are asked to fill in for musicians in other ensembles when their regular staff falls ill. Our schedules are not cancelled due to illness.
